More than 500,000 kids in Malaysia received COVID-19 vaccination

KUALA LUMPUR, 21 February 2022: A total of 513, 393 (14.5%) children between 5 to 11 years old in Malaysia received the first dose for COVID-19 vaccine under the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme for Children (NIPKids) yesterday, Bernama reported. 

Meanwhile, a total of 13,992,391 (59.5%) adults in Malaysia have received the booster shot for COVID-19 with 22,944,158 (97.5%) have been completely vaccinated and 23,221,715 (98.7%) have at least received the first dose. 

For teenagers between 12 to 17 years old, a total of 2,798,806 (90%) were recorded as completely vaccinated with at least 2,884,882 (92.8%) receiving the first dose. 

A total of 128,153 COVID-19 vaccinations were dispensed yesterday, involving 61,230 first doses, 464 for the second dose completion, and 66,459 for the booster doses. 

Overall, the total for vaccinated people under the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme has accumulated to 66,148,498. 

According to the GitHub portal from the Ministry of Health, there were 37 death cases due to COVID-19 reported yesterday in Johor with 9 cases, followed by Selangor (7), Kedah (6), Perak and Sabah each 4 cases, Pulau Pinang (3), Pahang (2), and 1 case in Melaka and Federal Territory of Labuan respectively.***
