GOMBAK, 29 December 2021: The academia holds a big responsibility in dispersing their knowledge towards the community and in trying to solve the problems that have arisen from society and the current world.

“International Seminar on the Roles of University In Responding to Psychosocial Issues in the Community (ISRUPIC) 2021” is an academic engagement between International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM) and Universitas Islam Riau (UIR), aimed at sharing bits of knowledge and experiences within the academia to be contributed towards the community.

In this third meeting of ISRUPIC held on Tuesday (28 December), Dean of AbdulHamid AbuSulayman Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences (AHAS KIRKHS), Prof. Dr. Shukran Abdul Rahman, once again addressed the responsibility of academia towards society.

“It is the academia’s responsibility to generate knowledge and then disperse it to the community,” Prof. Dr. Shukran said in his welcoming speech.

He also stated that the academia is the most suitable ‘candidate’ to lead the community towards the betterment of society as they have the resources in their hands and can generate ideas in combating any problem within the community.

The seminar was conducted to discuss current problems that arose from the COVID-19 phenomenon such as the topic on mental health and well-being of the community and the psychosocial issues post-COVID-19 pandemic.

It was hosted by the Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Islam Riau (UIR) in collaboration with AHAS KIRKHS, IIUM.

Students are highly encouraged to watch the recorded meeting of the event on Psikologi Universitas Islam Riau YouTube channel for more insightful information.***
