GOMBAK, 24 November 2020: For the first time, our country has recorded daily cases reaching 2,188 new cases which brings the total number of positive COVID-19 cases in Malaysia to 58,847.
Malaysia today reported its highest number of positive COVID-19 cases, adding up to 58,847 total cases and 14,353 active cases. No import cases were reported today.
Meanwhile, four fatalities have been confirmed today, taking the number to 341 fatalities to date.
According to Health Director-General, Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah, Selangor still recorded the highest daily case reporting of 1,623 cases (74.2%). This was followed by Sabah with 232 cases (10.6%) and Perak with 112 cases (5.1%).
The majority of cases reported in the state of Selangor are from the Teratai Cluster with an increase of 1,511 cases (93.1%). As informed, the medical and public health aid team has been mobilised to the affected areas to assist in all control and prevention activities including mass screening.
With 1,673 recoveries today, the cumulative number of recovered cases add up to 44,153.
As of 24 November 2020, a total of 334 clusters have been reported. The number of clusters that have been completed is 167 clusters with one (1) cluster that ended today, namely the Bah Layangan Cluster. This brings the total number of active clusters monitored to 167 clusters.
Of these, a total of 36 clusters reported an increase in cases. The clusters that reported the highest increase in new cases today were the Teratai Cluster (1,511 cases), the Tembok Cluster (103 cases), and the Bintang Cluster (69 cases).
The Ministry of Health has advised the public to continue to follow the recommendations and health advice that is often emphasised, namely the 3Ws (Practice Wash, Wear and Warn). ***
