GOMBAK, 25 August 2020: The IIUM Rector’s Strategic Tour 2020 started with the visit to the Kulliyyah of Engineering (KOE) on 13 July where the Rector stressed that IIUM must work harder in facing post-year 2020.

According to Prof. Emeritus Tan Sri Dato’ Dzulkifli Abdul Razak, the session with KOE was significant as this was the first Kulliyyah he visited last year during the first Strategic Tour.

“The university must uphold and follow the seven missions of the university to ensure that the university can sustain the achievement,” the Rector said.

Last year’s tour was more on introducing and explaining on the missions and visions of the university in achieving the recognition by the United Nations.

This year, IIUM had achieved two international recognitions, the Regional Centre of Expertise by UNESCO and Sustainable Institution of the year by the International Green Gown Award supported by United Nations Environment.

“I think the attempt for this time is to find out how we can map the work of the Kulliyyah and the University as a whole so that we present the total transformation of the University in a way that is quite convincing.”

Former Dean of KOE, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Faris Ismail said the Kulliyyah upholds the seven missions of IIUM in integrating the knowledge and expertise to fulfil the IIUM Strategic Roadmap 2020.

“The Kulliyyah of Engineering will be looking at various projects that will support the University’s goals and projects involving technology to solve mental health problem not only among staff and students but also for the community,” the Dean said.

“We are also looking at using our expertise in promoting low carbon campus, looking at various renewable energy technology as well as more efficient energy resources,” he added.***
