GOMBAK, 25 August 2020: IIUM is now moving forward to be a global university after being recognised by the United Nations through its achievements, Prof. Emeritus Tan Sri Dato’ Dzulkifli Abdul Razak said during his session with the Kulliyyah of Information and Communication Technology (KICT) on 20 July.
The Rector stressed on the seven missions of IIUM known as the Triple IIICE. He commented that all kulliyyah including KICT must be part of the mission in integrating the faith, knowledge and good character and the Kulliyyah is responsible in managing its initiatives in humanising education.
The Rector later highlighted relations between recognition received and the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings.
“I am not for rankings because that is not the values that we advocate for the university. It is unethical and we should have not justified it.”
“The recognition from the United Nations is an example of things that we should have more concern. Why should we pay money for the ranking while we can attain recognition for free,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Dean of KICT, Prof. Dr. Abdul Wahab Abdul Rahman said the KICT’s vision and mission are significant with the University’s vision and mission. He explained on how the community in the kulliyyah must think out of the box in order to move forward.
“The project of Cyber Sejahtera that we have been doing for years by visiting schools and institutions in sharing information about cyber security and cyber issues can now be accessed online,” the Professor said.
“The use of technology such as Webinar and other online platforms with the help of students will surely benefit the related society and community,” he added.***
