“She’s my inspiration throughout my life journey”

By Ain Nabihah

March is the International Women’s Month, so what better time to celebrate those women who have inspired you and someone you look up to throughout your life.

Traditionally, women are less likely to be in the eye of the society and their stories are rarely being shared in the media. Why? Because history has largely been written about men to show how masculine and heroic they are. Unfortunately, for young girls, they aren’t given the broad scope of role model to follow.

So being a youngster is the time where you are still searching for your identity and who you want to be. For me, having a famous idol or actress is not really my thing but it really depends on the person’s personally.

However, this person is really close and special to me. She has become my inspiration since then. Let me introduce her. Briefly, she is the eldest among her siblings and was born in 1972. Now, she has successfully worked as a director of landscape consultant in Damansara and received tons of competition awards for her unique landscape design.

What made her my inspiration? I could list it down throughout the day but let me share with you few of her personalities and characters that I adore the most. She is a very independent human being in charge of her own responsibilities and decision.

This person doesn’t rely on anyone unnecessarily but knows when to ask for help. Managing a company on her own will be really exhausting and tiring, She takes her job very seriously with full determination for the future of the company.

Not only that, she also takes care of her family really well by providing necessities and financial support. It can be really hard to balance both at the same time but she has done it well.

Talent is something that is not born in a person. It takes a lot of dedications and supports to make you a very talented person. It is by doing something that you like and enjoy the most.

This person is very artistic in designing and colouring. You can just give a pencil and a piece of paper, on the spot, she can turn it in a very beautiful and creative drawing. She told me ‘doodling’ is her hobby. “That is the only way I release my stress.” We would always go to a stationary store just to check out the latest art equipment every time at the mall which makes us crazy!

Her support made me become who I am today. She would stand by my side motivating and helping me to get back up when I am down and struggling. During school years, when I’m dissatisfied with my exam result, she helped me to improve and taught studying techniques. We would do things together, step by step, to make sure I learn from the mistakes. “It is okay to make mistakes now because you are still learning” are her words that I remember till today.

Hence, her sacrifices and love make me grateful and blessed to have her in my journey. She deserves to be appreciated. To all women in the world. Happy International Women’s Day! ***
