How did you fare in your final examination?

By Izzud deen Redzuan

GOMBAK: How well did you prepare for your final examination? I believe some of us may have spent months, weeks, even days, studying very hard to pass our examination with flying colours.

It is normal for students to stay up at nights, spending our precious times in the library with friends to do revision and discussion so as to gain a better understanding of the courses we have learned, as final examination approaches.

What is the reward for studying smart and studying hard? To be on the Dean’s List is not the ultimate goal in a student’s life but it is something worth to be achieved as a student. However, the Dean’s List is not a measurement of who is better than the others, but rather, a reflection of our true efforts in our study in this beloved campus.

My teacher once said, “Doing your best is more important than being the best.”

To highlight, only students who receive a CGPA of 3.50 and above will be considered to receive this amazing award given by the Dean of all the Kuliyyahs.

This semester, despite the hectic situation we have to go through, amidst heavy rains and flash floods, we have successfully completed our final examination. Hence, it is now the time for us to see the fruits of our efforts.

As stated in the Final Examination Slip, IIUM students may check examination result on Friday, June 20, 2014 starting from 00:00 a.m. through several ways, via MyIIUM Student Portal, IIUM Student an Official Email, and via SMS ( IIUM <space> Matric No. <space> PIN <space> Send to 39123. Only available for 013 & 019).

“All the best to fellow students in other universities in their final examination. We, the IIUM students, are waiting for the results this Friday,” said Kamal.

For graduating students who pass this final examination, I would like to extend my congratulations and wish them all the best to start with a new life upon graduation. Those who have to repeat certain subjects, don’t worry or get mad. I hope it won’t be that hard for them to go through the subject for the second time, and they should strive to get better results. They must prove to their lecturers that they can do better this time.

As Allah SWT said in the Holy Qur’an:

“Truly, God does not change the condition of  people until they change what is in themselves.” (Quran 13:11)

People often become what they believe themselves to be. If people keep on saying to them that they cannot do certain thing, it is possible that they may end up becoming incapable of doing it. On the contrary, if they have the belief that they can do it, they have the capacity to do it even if they may not have it at the beginning.

There is no ending point in a learning circle. It is not that you read a book, pass an examination, and you are finished with education. The whole life, from the moment you are born to the moment you die, is a process of learning and nothing to be ashamed of.

So, best wishes for your final result and do share it with family and friends, whatever the outcome.

All the best IIUM students. Whatever the result that you get and whatever your result is, don’t forget to thank Allah, Alhamdulillah ‘ala kulli ni’mat.said Atikah.

Check your result here at MyIIUM Student on Friday, June 20, 2014 after 00:00am.
