“I owe my success to sacrifices of others” – Irfan Iskandar

GOMBAK, 26 November 2019 – Irfan Iskandar Putera bin Khairul Muzamir Putera considered that his academic achievement would not be possible without other people’s efforts and sacrifices.

He was honoured as the Best Student from the Department of English Language and Literature following IIUM 35th Convocation Ceremony.

A Convocation Award Ceremony 2019 was held at Banquet Hall, Muhammad Abdul-Rauf Building yesterday (25 November) in appreciation of the best students in the Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences (KIRHK).

Officiated by the Dean of KIRKHS, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Shukran Abdul Rahman, this ceremony made Irfan Iskandar Putera felt acknowledged of his efforts throughout his four years of study in IIUM after all the ups and downs.

In an interview with IIUMToday, he said that he considered his mother as the backbone of the family, his main inspiration, and that she had always stayed in his mind throughout his studies.

“I want to make her proud of me. I want to help her and I know that only through good education that I’ll be able to help her.”

Understanding his responsibility in taking care of his family, he advised, “Always keep in mind to not give up because it’s not only you but other people are counting on you as well.”

Irfan called on future graduands to cherish their university life and make good time here by balancing between academic, co-curricular and free time because once they have graduated, it would be a hard life waiting outside.
