GOMBAK, 17 November 2019: Building trust is something very important as trust is the key element to create a positive brand image, the founder of Talentbank, Mr. Ben Ho, told a group of Communication students on their visit to Talentbank Career Services Centre on Friday (15 November).
Ben Ho told the students to always be prepared to face the outside world as they cannot expect the situation to be always rosy. He therefore advised the students to always invest their time in upgrading their skills especially in information technology.
According to Ben Ho, the competition in the market is very tough, so students must learn to equip themselves with the right skills and acquire the right values to be able to fit in with the industry.
A group of 31 students from Principles & Practices of Managerial Communication (COMM 3070) class, accompanied by their lecturer, Dr. Rizalawati Ismail, visited Talentbank Career Service Centre, with the aim to expose the students to the organisation and to seek for career prospects in the industry.
The visit was organised by the class in collaboration with IIUM’s Counselling and Career Services Centre (CCSC).
Ben Ho also touched on the importance of communication skills in seeking for jobs, hence, he advised the students to polish up their communication skills and prepare themselves before graduating.
He told the students, œYou must improve your communication skills. Learn to speak clearly and straightforward. Learn also to make eye contact. The most crucial part is to always be the first one to approach people to ask for their advice.
Meanwhile, the event’s programme manager, Mohamed Izzudin Ishak expressed the hope that this educational visit would encourage students to think more about their future upon graduation in seeking for job and career.
Similar hope was shared by Dr. Rizalawati Ismail who said, œI hope the students would greatly benefit from this visit.
Talentbank Career Services Centre has worked with many big names such as Nestle and Maybank in their effort to help undergraduate students secure employment through Career Fair events. ***
