IIUM Spordemic challenge: SRC urges students to participate

GOMBAK, 15 March 2018: The Students’ Representative Council (SRC) is encouraging all IIUM students to take part in IIUM Spordemic challenge to be held in campus here from 16 to 18 March aimed at strengthening the bonds between students from different countries in IIUM.

Initiated by the SRC Presidential Secretariat, Spordemic is the only event combining three aspects of life education: academic intelligence, sports and cultural integration.  This inter-country programme will be filled with various activities including IQ (academic) challenge, treasure hunt, athletic sport race, futsal, community service and  cultural performance.

The venue for the programme will be around the IIUM campus and Experimental Hall.

For community service, the participants will conduct outreach community programme with the Orang Asli kids to teach them and provide aids.

“Currently we received requests from students who are interested in joining as representatives of their home country for cultural performance,” its founder, Abdulrahman Aboud Abubakar said.

Meanwhile, according to its programme manager, Ahmed Abdul Rahman Nkoba, the SRC is targeting for more supporters and participants this year to take part in the event to represent their countries.

“We encourage all students to actively participate. In the previous Spordemic challenge 2017, the performance was epic. The hall was in full capacity filled with students during the closing ceremony, ” he said.

Promoting the balance between academic, sports and inclusivity, IIUM students have been urged to experience life together and to gain a good insight from this programme. ***
