GOMBAK, 22 December 2017 – People should go back to rationality by obeying the divine law in order to stop corruption, Prof. Dr. Wahabuddin Rae’es of Political Science Department told the audience at a seminar here yesterday.
“When the rationality of people who are together responsible to run the institution and state are taken away by their desire, that is the sign of decay of civilisation.
To prevent that, according to Ibn Khaldun, perspective people should go back to God and ponder what is right or wrong,” he explained during the seminar on “Civilisations: a Multinational Perspective”.
According to the professor, “the nature of humankind composed of intellect, rationality, and some animal side in their soul”.
“Man is free to do what they want to do, but to prevent us from corruption, we need to pay attention to God’s command,” he added.
He also elaborated on the term Assobiyyah when people in a state are living with a feeling of togetherness and belonging to each other. “These feelings will strengthen the social interaction between people in one particular state and institution.”
The seminar was held at Senate Hall. It was organised in collaboration with Ibnu Khaldun Chair, Majlis Professor Negara and Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences. ***
