PETALING JAYA, 21 December 2017 – The reunion of IIUM Petaling Jaya campus last Saturday (16 December) managed to gather not only the local alumni but also those who are abroad.
œI just came for this, said a former student of batch 1997, who was on her vacation from her work in Saudi Arabia, Khadija Muhammad.
An alumnus who came along with her was Raida Alvi, the best Political Science student during her time in 1994, who came all the way from America not only for the reunion but also to visit her two daughters who are currently in Gombak campus.
Another foreign ex-student spotted at the scene was Bosnian Ambassador to Malaysia, Emir Hadzikadunic, who said that he found out about the PJ campus reunion through IIUM Alumni Facebook page.
œOf course I wanted to come and see this place once again because I have a lot of memories that I can never forget, he shared.
IIUM Deputy Rector (Academic and Planning), Prof. Dr. Isarji Haji Sarudin, in his closing speech of the reunion atAl Malik Faisal Hall, said that “IIUM brings the world to the students as it is an international university”.
œThis is the experience you cannot find anywhere else in the world,” he stated.
He also mentioned that the IIUM Gombak campus currently caters for students who are from 114 different countries.
Being a distinguished university known for the inculcation of Islamic values, IIUM is definitely unique in itself, as it brings the Muslim world together in one place.
œYou can feel the international environment during Friday prayer, he said.***
