GOMBAK, 30 September 2017: The Institute of Public Relations Malaysia Student Association (IPRMSA) – IIUM Chapter broke the ‘secrets’ to the world of IPRMSA by organising the ‘Meet and greet’ session among its members, including potential ones, yesterday.

The programme was aimed to let the students know about the ‘secrets’ to the world of IPRMSA, to gain an extended network of acquaintances and contacts, to break the ice, to gain an insight into the planned upcoming events, and to get support from potential members. The programme also offered new registration for the IIUM’s campus community who are interested to join the association.

The Advisor of IPRMSA, Aznan Mat Piah said, “We keep membership open to all IIUM’s community just to let them feel what it’s like to be in one field, which is the field of public relations, no matter from what background and Kulliyyah they come from.”

“Simply, we can say that the association behaved just like the ocean, at the end, all of us must swim and live as one because the ocean houses a wide array of marine symbioses, where different organisms depend on one another for survival,” he added.

The event ran smoothly, with the sharing session from all programme managers. Besides, there was also an insight session for the upcoming events that will be organised throughout the semester. Some of the programmes lined up in the pipeline are a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) do, art competition and exhibition, World Teacher’s day, and also pre-loved items sale, as part of fund-raising.

The interesting part of the programme came from the one-to-one session with former acting President of IPRMSA-IIUM Chapter, Ahmad Syukri Azmi, who initiated and brought about the reactivation of the association some three years ago. He shared his valuable experience with members on communication industry, especially on job expectations, the professional skills, and the discipline on the field.

This sharing session was well received by the association’s members as it was an eye-opener for them to gain knowledge and be inspired by such experience and success.

“Be opportunistic enough, start by being brave, go out from your comfort zone, and dare to take risks because nothing can substitute experience,” Ahmad Syukri advised.

“I have learned a lot from this association too, and I would love to see an improvement made by all members as this association is a useful platform.”

Ahmad Syukri  is now BERNAMA’s business development executive after having served in Radio BERNAMA for almost three years as a broadcast journalist.

The programme ended at 5 p.m. following light refreshment.

Overall, the event gave some sort of cognition to IPMSA’s new members and also gave them the opportunity to learn new things by joining or becoming committee members for the upcoming events.

The event’s programme manager, Wan Nornabila Wan Zaizatol Hisham said, “It was a good wrap-up for today and I would like to thank all my committee members for their hard work in making this event run smoothly.”

“I am honoured to see new members joining the programme and in trying to establish networking and gain experience.”

Meanwhile, IPRMSA- IIUM Chapter’s President, Lailatul Fitriyah Matsani, advised those interested to join any of the programme committees to contact her at +6011-23240230, or tab out the association’s social media internet site at https://web.facebook.com/iprmsaiiumchapter/”. ***
