HULU KELANG, 24 April 2017: A programme called œRaise Up Sunshine aimed to motivate and help instil self-confidence among school children aged between 8 to 15 from various backgrounds was held yesterday (22 April) at Pusat Kanak-Kanak Hulu Kelang.
The one-day programme was organised by Matahari Consultant IIUM in collaboration with Pasukan Perlindungan Kanak-Kanak (PPKK) Gombak, Department of Social Welfare Gombak and Pejabat Penghulu Mukim Hulu Kelang.Â
œWe are targeting students who are not doing well in their academic performance and have problems with attitudes. So, we are here to motivate and help them overcome their problems, said the programme manager, Mohd Saufi Sulaiman.
œWe apply psychological approach in our module that is suitable for their age group so that they would be able to understand and follow our activities, said assistant programme manager, Asri Abd Rahim.
With the module that had been prepared, the organisers hoped that the students will be able to manage themselves well when faced with pressures from their surroundings and would make the right decision to solve problems.
The programme’s advisor, Dr. Mardiana Mohamad said, œI hope from this programme, the students will learn more about the meaning of life. I also hope that the subject on psychology that they learned in IIUM would be relevant and applicable to the society, not only as a learning process in the class.
œFor me, this programme is fun because I love to participate in this kind of programme that gave us a good opportunity to put our knowledge into practice,” said one of the participants, Ayu Azwareena Natasya, giving her positive comment for this programme.***
