GOMBAK, 12 February 2017: An exhibition of the 11th Heritage and Contemporary Studies entitled ˜The Wonders of Carving in Jogjakarta will be held from 13 until 15 February at the Gallery of Kulliyyah of Architecture and Environmental Design (KAED).
Organised by the third year students of Bachelor of Applied Arts and Design (AAD) of KAED, this event will present the outcome of their findings following a visit to Jogjakarta, Indonesia, in late August to early September last year.
The trip mainly focused on various kinds of carving motifs and techniques applied on local products. All the highlights of the findings will be displayed in the form of visual presentation, infographic posters, selected raw materials and the end products.
Founder and Chairman of Yayasan Ikatan Rakyat Malaysia-Indonesia (YIRMI), Tan Sri Dato Seri Utama Dr. Rais Yatim, who is also as the President of IIUM, is expected to officiate the launching ceremony of the exhibition together with the Rector, Prof. Dato Dr. Zaleha Kamaruddin, which will be held at 9.00 am on 13 February.
The event will be attended by representatives from institutions around Klang Valley, sponsors of the trip and exhibition, the media, and organisations associated with the course, as well as the management of IIUM and KAED staff.
To make the event more attractive to the audience, there will be also a bazaar where items designed and hand-crafted by the students will be on sale. Admission is free, and besides the IIUM students, the public are also invited. ***
