GOMBAK, 24 April 2016: The night was not like a normal night in IIUM and definitely not an event as has been held before in Main Hall, Cultural Activity Centre (CAC). The good team of IIUM students successfully hosted one of the biggest Malaysian concerts in the history of the University, featuring three greatest iconic Malaysian artistes.
The management of the concert managed to bring to campus prominent legends of Malaysia’s music industry, namely Datuk Jamal Abdillah, Datuk Ramli Sarip and Dato M Nasir accompanied by Orkestra Tradisional Malaysia of Istana Budaya and spearheaded by the talented Lokman Ghani, all in one stage at ˜3 Lagenda concert.
Prof. Dato Sri Dr. Zaleha Kamarudin, the Rector of IIUM was among the VIPs who witnessed the legendary show, accompanied by the President of SRC, Aiman Azahan and also the Executive Manager of IIUM Youth Festival 2016, Anwar Rahmat. This could be a memorable night for the VIPs as they were seated in front to watch the concert.
The concert can be seen as a milestone for IIUM because not only musicians from Istana Budaya were playing all the musical instruments, but also some talented groups of IIUM students, known as Asuhan Seni, became part of the show.
It was a remarkable concert as commented by one member of audience from outside, Alia Hassan. She said,œThe concert was the best and the price of the ticket was totally worth it. So I give this ˜3 Lagenda concert five star.
It was really an enjoyable event that night.
Anwar Husaini, as the event’s programme manager, expressed his thought by saying that it was the biggest event in his college life. œThis concert, I feel, is like a dream come true, he said.
He, who at first wanted to bring only one legendary singer, Dato M. Nasir to IIUM, turned out to have a bigger opportunity than he had expected. With good teamwork, he managed to hold this event in IIUM successfully.
He also shared his experience of working together with Istana Budaya and the artistes. œI have no words to say but thank you to all the team members, he added.
The concert was in conjunction with IIUM Youth Festival 2016, a huge event organised by Sports and Cultural Secretariat from Students Representative Council 2015/2016 International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) in collaboration with Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS), and other university societies.***
