SHAH ALAM, 28 March 2016: The Career Development Programme organised by Counselling and Career Services Centre (CCSC) IIUM has helped school students to shed light on their future ambitions.
The event held at Integrated Islamic School, Shah Alam, aimed to empower students in clarifying their own career aspirations and strategies to overcome the barriers in achieving their dream job.
The school students aged between 15 and 16 years old were in for career development modules such as identifying top three career choices, career interests, career values, career obstacles and strategising ways to beat their challenges. All modules were led by IIUM Senior Counsellor, Saiful Redza Mohamed alternated by energiser activities by IIUM Counsellor Muhammad Norhafifi Zulkifly.
Other officials from the CCSC who helped to facilitate the students were Kamaruddin Abdul Hamid, Noorasyikin Asrorie and Mohd Sufian Saperan. Two students from IIUM also joined the programme as facilitators; they are Muhammad Firdaus Zainol and Azra Farzana Shuib.
Although the programme was a little delayed at the start, all students were all smiles throughout the programme and had given good cooperation in doing tasks in their assigned groups. The programme that took the whole day has given an insight on realistic measures to achieve their ambitions, as well as the path to take in their future undertakings.
œThe programme has inspired us in choosing our road in life. If we dont plan, we wont be able to identify the challenges in attaining our ambition. Attending this programme has given us a lot of details and that in itself can help ease our way in the future, said one school student, Nur Sakinah Subri.
Another school student, Sophea Shahril also gave a positive feedback about the programme. œBefore joining this programme I was still unsure about what I want to be, she said.
œBut after I have attended the talks now I know more about what I want to be, and how much it takes to realise it, she added. ***
