GOMBAK, 8 March 2016: The English Language Linguistic and Literature Students Association (ELITS) theatre is back with the theme œYouth in realising humanity. They make a different comeback by organising a charity theatre for this year’s IIUM Youth Festival.
Organised by Students Representative Council (SRC) of IIUM in collaboration with English Language Linguistic and Literature Students Association (ELITS) and Mercy Malaysia, this charity theatre will be held on 17 April 2016, from 8.00p.m until 11.00p.m at Main Auditorium, IIUM.
œELITS will conduct a theatre annually, but then this time, why not we do charity, said the Programme Manager of IIUM Youth Festival 2016 Charity Theatre, Najwa Syahirah Mohmad Zubir.
œTheatre is one of the means to realise the Islamisation of knowledge, The charity theatre is intended to raise money for charity and give messages to the IIUM students that Islamisation can also be in terms of entertainment.
In conjunction of the IIUM Youth Festival, the theatres objective is to tell the audiences that they also have their part in this society. That is to show that they are not just students but also someone who can contribute something to the community.
The theatre will be performed by two production houses which are AllNighter and Creept Production. There also will be a special performance by Gamelan Gema Gangsa.
She added, œWe as an ELITS, we provide a platform to the students to unleash their hidden talent.
According to Najwa, œFor every sold ticket RM3.00 will be donated to MERCY Malaysia.
She explained that they never did charity event before and this is their first time doing a theatre for charity.
The students can buy the theatre tickets at their booth in HS Square with the price of RM7.00 per ticket. They also welcome outsiders, lecturers and students from other universities to come and enjoy the theatre performances. For those who want to buy their tickets, they can go for the promotion and buy 4 tickets to get another one free ticket.
