GOMBAK, 11 March 2016: It was a very inspirational and a nice evening for the IIUM.fm crew and listeners as they received five special guests for a short interview and a sharing session on air.
Five actors from movie ˜Ola Bola, Muhd Luqman Hafidz Mohd Fauzi, Eric Teng Shin Wang, Mohamad Taufiq Hanafi, Yudesh Kumar and Imran Safiee went live on campus radio from 3 p.m to 4 p.m with DJ Katt and DJ Nuha as they shared their experience in the movie.
˜Ola Bola tells the story of the glory of Malaysia’s national football team when they qualified to enter the 1980 Moscow Olympic Games. The film directed by Chiu Keng Guan and screened since January 28 has reached box office with 16 million viewers and it is still showing in the cinema.
Luqman Hafidz, who plays the character Ali in the film, said that the movie reached box office because of the story line, a good director and a good team that did their best for ˜Ola Bola.
œThe goals of making ˜Ola Bola was established by Chiu, who was nobody in this film became the spotlight. We worked as a team to produce a good movie. If you want to be a hero or all that kind of stuff then you were wrong, we just want to produce valuable movie, he added.
Meanwhile, Eric Teng, who plays the character Balak Eric in the movie said, œThe strength of this movie is the message and the value of the movie itself to boost the morale and strengthen racial harmony in the country.”
œThis film is not simply about football, it shares many other important elements which is the theme of life in the hearts of Malaysians about family, life in the 1980s, togetherness, besides incorporating the elements of racial unity, said Taufiq Hanafi, who plays the character Abu in this film.
He also stated that the most memorable experiences in this movie was the scene at Broga Hill, Semenyih, when they faced hardship together as a team to improve their skills and build the bonding between them.
Apart from that, Imran who plays the cast as Yusof in ˜Ola Bola said, œEvery one inside this movie inspired me, every one of us helped each other in this movie and we always cracked jokes to cheer each other.”
Yudesh, who plays as Yunesh in this film said, œI have been inspired by the movie that told me to believe again in myself and never give up even when you feel at the very bottom of position.
œAlways remember to start small and dream big because we all have to go through a humble beginning,” Yudesh added.***
