GOMBAK, 5 March 2016: The newly established E-Sport club held a launching ceremony at Kulliyah of Information Computer Technology (KICT) which was attended by Deputy Rector (Student Affairs), Datuk Dr. Mizan Hitam and E-sport Malaysia Secretary-General, Rinie Ramli.
The launching ceremony was officiated by the Deputy Rector.
A big number of participants attended the launching ceremony, including the alumni and students of IIUM.
The event started at 11 a.m with a recital of a surah from the Quran. This was followed by a speech from the co-founder of the club to welcome the guests to the launching ceremony.
The club’s objective was based on 3E which are œexplore, educate and encourage. He added that IIUM E-sport club is not only about playing games but to make IIUM students explore new things in this world as well as to educate IIUM students on how to be a great gamers as Muslims.
E-sport Malaysia Secretary-General, Rinie Ramli stated that he was “stunningly amazed that Islam and gaming can be together.”
He also added that soon Malaysia will be hosting ASEAN E-sport and he wanted IIUM students to be the representatives for the IIUM.
In his speech, Datuk Dr Mizan said he was happy that a big number of students have come to the launching ceremony. Moreover, he gave advice to the students to use the social media to advertise and help make E-sport known to the public.
He added, “We must not become a keyboard warrior but a warrior in the real world.”
The co-founder of IIUM E-sport club gave the honour to Datuk Dr Mizan to cut the ribbon as a symbol of the launching of the IIUM E-Sport club.***Â
