Promoting Silat club to juniors

GOMBAK, 4 February 2016: The arrival of the new semester for the 2015/2016 session was met with martial arts performance from Seni Silat Cekak Ustaz Hanafi club which started at 1.30 p.m held at the riverside. All the demonstrators, male and female, were IIUM students.

As soon as the demonstration was about to begin it could be seen that all the demonstrators were  surrounded by people who came to watch the demonstration.

They started with some sort of individual moves consisting of basic movement in silat, then they moved with the self-defence part by showing some of the moves on how to deal with the attackers. Among the eye-catching  moves from the performance was the five attack one fight by the sisters using knife as the weapon. They managed to attract people’s attention on them and were able to end the demonstration without getting any injury.

The objectives of the demonstration is to promote their silat  club to all members of IIUM community especially the new intake to join them and also for the preparation of inventory in conjunction of Seni Silat Cekak Ustaz Hanafi Club in IIUM. One of the club members, Muhammad Shauqi Shabudin, 22,said that Silat Cekak Ustaz Hanafi are suitable for all people to learn and it very practical in a self-defence.

Those who were interested to join the club had been invited to their booth near the ECONS and ITD. Another demonstration was held at the same place on 5 February. ***
