THE recent success of the country at playing a global role has moved Malaysian diplomacy to centre stage. The country co-sponsored together with Spain, United Nations Security Council Resolution 2225 on the Protection of Children in Conflict Zones at the United Nations in June. Malaysia also led other members of Asean into agreeing on the setting up of a Disaster Relief Trust Fund for the region. It was reported that Malaysia had requested for a US$100,000 (RM379,310) contribution from each Asean member country to start the fund.
