BERNAMA: The Human Life Advancement Foundation (HLAF) is offering scholarships to students pursuing PhD and postdoctoral programmes here in the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two parties.
IIUM rector Prof Datuk Dr. Zaleha Kamaruddin said the collaboration would enable more students to create new technologies of commercial value.
When representing IIUM at the signing of the MOU, she said that the university is committed in supporting research activities carried out by doctoral students through agreements signed with HLAF.
Its chief executive officer, Junaidi Said, represented HLAF. The ceremony was witnessed by IIUM deputy rector Prof Mohamed Ridza Wahiddin and HLAF manager Melati Hassan Basree.
Meanwhile, Junaidi said HLAF was offering scholarships worth USD15,000 and USD35,000 per academic year to those who were interested in furthering their studies at the PhD and postdoctoral level respectively.
He added that HLAF had also signed MoUs with 18 universities worldwide in the field of engineering.
