Inspirations everywhere, but how to get inspired?

By Madeehah Nazneen Md Najib

In our daily lives, we often tend to find motivation and inspiration only based on our preferences. Whereas, without us realising that inspirations and motivations can be gained from people around us regardless of their background or status in society.

Indeed, we always think that only those whom we look up to can inspire us, but actually, the people we meet every day also are able to teach and give us new inspiration. Inspiration does not necessarily come in the form of material, but the inspiration that is most impressive is the inspiration that touches the heart.

Those we meet on the streets, are also among those who can inspire us. Try to look around and see how we respect and serve those who take public transport with us, those who sit next to our table in a restaurant, those who enjoy grocery shopping at the same store with us.

See how we complement each other. How people smile, always offer hands to help and always say beautiful words, this is actually a form of indirect inspiration that can build our personality.

If we are crossing the road, pay attention to the actions of the drivers, whether they slow down the vehicle, allowing a more comfortable space for us or continue to accelerate the pace and ignore the pedestrians. Every action of people around us can give inspiration for us to put into practice.

Also, with those we deal with who carry the same responsibilities in business scope. If we are just client to them, pay attention on how we complement each other in managing the business – whether we mutually facilitate each other or we choose to be selfish. This is also a form of inspiration that will shape us to be better. In the business world, for example, see how business ethics are put into practice to make it more secured and convincing enough.

Lastly, try to pay attention to the behaviour of those who live with us. It may be our family members or our friends. See how our brother serves a kid who is younger than him. Even though he might be younger than us it does not mean that he cannot be a source of inspiration. What we gained, we put into practice in our daily lives. Regardless the inspirations that come from the young or those who are matured enough, each inspiration is really helpful, depending on how we take it.

Thus, in order to stay motivated and get inspired, we have to know the fact that we may get the inspirations in every moment of our lives. It is just whether we are able to differentiate between inspirations, experiences and lessons. But in general, all of thess surely can inspire us to shape an inspiring character and a better life which can become an inspiration for others as well.
