GOMBAK, 10 April 2015: IIUM Alumni, Ardi Herman and Farah Othman received a warm welcome by the students of IIUM at Cultural Activity Centre for the Teh Tarik Session on 7 and 8 April respectively in conjunction with the IIUM Career & Internship Fair 2015.
Ardi Herman Mohd Mardzi graduated from IIUM in 2010 with a degree in Built Environment from the Kulliyyah of Architecture and Environmental Design (KAED). He is currently working at TV Al-Hijrah as an anchor, news editor and producer. He is also a freelance Master of Ceremony, presenter and voice over.
Farah Othman graduated from IIUM with a degree in Political Science in 1997 from the Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences (KIRKHS). She is currently the General Manager at an oil and gas company, Innovative Oilfield Services.
The Teh Tarik Session is a platform where successful IIUM alumni and current students meet and interact as the invited guest speaker shared their experience and advice for the purpose of motivating and inspiring the students.
Ardi Herman shared a lot of interesting insights on various topics relating to the media world. According to him, the transition from a Built Environment major to a news presenter on television was rather tough. However, his passion and determination prevailed.
Farah Othman, being the one in charge of job applications and interviews, gave a very insightful talk on how students should market themselves in front of the employer; from producing the perfect CV to a successful interview. According to her, the first impression one gives to the interviewer is very crucial as they are able to determine how deserving the applicant is instantly. She also conducted a free profile test for students in an attempt to define students career path.
The IIUM Career & Internship Fair 2015, held on 7 and 8 April, was organised by the Alumni and Career Services Division as well as the Office of Industrial Links. Over 30 companies of various fields participated in the Fair.***
