Book voucher (BB1M) disbursment to all Malaysian students

GOMBAK, 2 March 2015: Great news for all Malaysian students! The Student Unit Finance Divisions IIUM Gombak will make distribution of 1 Malaysia Book Voucher (BB1M) to IIUM Malaysian students from tomorrow, March 3 until 6, 2015 at special counters in the Main Auditorium, Gombak campus.

This book voucher is an initiative by the Malaysian government for every local student in Malaysia to ease the burden of purchasing textbooks, reference books as well as stationeries.

The Date of Disbursement are as follows:

  • 3 March 2014 (10.00am – 4.30pm) – 142 (ex- CFS students only), 141, 133, Postgraduate, Double Degree
  • 4 March 2015 (9.00am “ 4.30pm)  – 132, 131 , 123, Postgraduate, Double Degree
  • 5 March 2015 (9.00am “ 4.30pm)  – 122, 121, 113, Postgraduate, Double Degree
  • 6 March 2015 (9.00am “ 12.30 noon & 2.45pm “ 4.30pm) –  112, 111, 103, Postgraduate, Double Degree Intake before 2010.

However, for those who are unable to come on the above dates may come to the Student Unit Finance Division counter to collect the book voucher after 9 March 2015 during office hours.

The distribution of BB1M voucher for Petaling Jaya students will be determined by the CFS authority and for Kuantan students, you can get the voucher from the One Stop Centre in IIUM Kuantan during office hours.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for receiving the 1Malaysia Book Voucher all Malaysian students must fulfil the following criteria:

  • Malaysian nationality (Permanent Residents not eligible).
  • Must be active and register in IIUM on 31 December 2014 in the following level of study (Diploma, Postgraduate Diploma, Bachelor, Master & PhD).
  • Full-time and part-time student.

So, are you eligible for these vouchers? We believe that you will probably be required to produce your MyKad and Matric Card as a proof. Therefore, don’t forget to bring them with you when collecting your vouchers. 

Validity and Usage

The validity of the voucher is until 30 June 2015. Each student will receive 5 pieces of RM50 worth of RM250 and the students are compulsory to write their details, name and IC number on the book voucher during the disbursement.

Initially, this voucher is for the purchase of books such academic books, journals, magazines, scholarly, stationary and educational equipment based on the needs of IPT. Most major bookstores like MPH, Popular, Borders, Kinokuniya, and BookXcess accept payments using the Book Voucher. 

Yet, there are some bookstore which may allow to purchase electronic items. Since it depends on the bookstores’ terms and regulations, so please check with the store before you start grabbing items into your cart!

Another thing, bear in mind that there will be no balance in cash be given if the purchase amount is less than the amount on the voucher, so use it wisely.
