If you like to practise writing, improve your skills in journalism and like meeting and socialising with people, why not give yourself a try by joining the IIUMToday news team? You would stand to gain a lot of benefits in terms of the exposure while studying in campus.
IIUMToday, established in May 2014 with a team of experienced advisors and dedicated reporters, is fully managed by the Department of Communication, Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences.
The online bulletin’s  main objective is to provide latest updates about current issues or events which are related to our University programmes as well as to offer journalistic experience for the students to enhance their writing skills.
IIUMToday provides credible sources of information and its reporters are working hard to provide significant and relevant news for the Universitys communities not only within the campus but also throughout the world.
There are many interesting feature articles provided by IIUMToday, ranging from arts, career, travel to stories on inspire and technology segments.
The Department of Communication wants to ensure that the online IIUMToday would continue to provide news and articles uninterrupted, which means with the participation of enthusiastic team of writers and journalists. This would certainly provide good experience for communication students, in particular, to be exposed to journalism skills and experience in campus.
If you are Communication students and interested to be part of the news team to gain exposure to the field, you are most welcome to participate. Students who are currently in the editorial team would move up and would soon leave the campus upon graduation, so there is the need for the junior ones to be trained to take over the tasks.
It doesn’t mean that students from other Kulliyyah cant join. Actually, all students and academic staff from other Kulliyyah are encouraged to be contributors by sending in their articles to IIUMToday or by simply clicking œYour Voice that is available on our news website.
By joining IIUMToday, you are indirectly joining a new family and enlarging your networking. Star points will be credited to your curriculum’s account and a certificate from Communication’s Department will be provided as proof of your participation.
Furthermore, the management of the online bulletin will provide you with necessary training through workshops given by professionals to help you acquire the writing skills and build journalistic confidence. Plus, a portfolio on news reporting and feature writing would look good for your career-searching in future when you graduated from the University.
Those who are interested to join the news team may drop their details at iiumtoday@gmail.com with an example of a brief news write-up or news article. You can also come and meet up personally with the bulletin’s coordinator, Dr. Aini Maznina A.Manaf, at the Department of Communication for more information.
