GOMBAK: The 12th IIUM Inter-school Debating Championship (12th IDC) is the most awaited event after one year of hiatus as announced by IIUM World Debate and Oratory Centre (IWON), which is currently held from 15 until 20 August 2014 in IIUM campus.
Organised by IIUM in collaboration with the Ministry of Education Malaysia, the championship is open to participation by any high school in Malaysia.
The 12th IDC will have three categories of participation which are English, Malay and Arabic. The participation has been limited to early birds of 80 teams for English and Malay, and 30 teams for Arabic, one team per school for each category.
The venue for each category of the debate will be at different places. These are as follows: Kulliyyah of Information and Communication Technology (KICT) “ English, the Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Law and Kulliyyah of Economics and Management Science (AIKOL & KENMS) “ Malay. The Administration Building is set for Arabic.
The 12th IIUM Inter-school Debating Championship is using the Asian Parliamentary format. According to twitter @IIUM IDC, “Â 81 schools from all over Malaysia will participate in this debate tournament.” A total of 300 IIUM’s students will be involved in this tournament as programme committee members.Â
Each participating student needs to pay RM200, including per accompanying teacher will be RM250. The fee includes accommodation and meals throughout the programme.
