Brew and Blossom Café, A Matcha Drinker’s Gem in Gombak Food Festival 3.0

In this modern world, for cafes to include matcha as part of its menu is a must. The reasons matcha has been skyrocketing in production is because of the power of social media influencers that attract Generation Z content which then catches people’s attention, by ordering the matcha latte drink, posting it on social media with people wondering what the taste is like and the aesthetics of the beautiful green colour of the drink attracts audiences. The power of the influencer can create trends in the world making the matcha a top selling option. A Café that has matcha as part of the menu will have the potential for higher consumer demand. Matcha is good for one’s health and wellbeing and provides a natural energy boost.

Since consumers sometimes will doubt whether to choose coffee or matcha when they visit cafés, they will identify what they need. For better energy and focus, matcha can make you more alert and energetic rather than coffee that will give you intense energy bursts followed by a crash. If someone were to start their day in a calming way, they will choose matcha over coffee but if they want to stay up till midnight working, and studying, they will take caffeine.

Sofia is a Communication student who loves to drink coffee, because it is not as healthy as matcha, she wants to change her habits and be a better person and take care of her health. As she begins her journey to be a healthy person, she starts trying drinks at some cafés she still not satisfied with the taste and quality of the matcha drinks sold by them. As the time goes by in 2025, she saw a booth by Brew and Blossom in IIUM selling many options of coffee but she was attracted to the matcha menu. At that time, Brew and Blossom Café had a special offer to Communication students and promotions by name. Sofia’s name had been select in the special promotion and she got RM3 off each drink. She enjoyed the promotion and the quality of matcha she bought with it matched her expectations. Ever since then, she loves to drink matcha and her habits slowly change to that of a healthy lifestyle. So every time she saw the booth by Brew and Blossom Café, she will purchase from it.

After trying many matcha drinks from many cafés, finally Brew and Blossom Café won her heart as it was not like other matcha drinks. This café uses matcha from the premium brand, Niko Neko, for their customers. Sofia believes even she had classes all day, but she would still have time to buy the matcha or any drink at the café because of its service is really fast . They always open their booth near to students’ classes and the place they choose to open the booth will exactly attract students’ attention because the environment is calm and makes student easily focus on writing their assignments while drinking any drinks like matcha, chocolate, coffee and many more. According to their owner on its social media they intend, “to create a place where you can make us a resting place.” Every business has been through ups and downs but instead of giving up the business they keep on going.

All people, especially students in IIUM should take small steps to trying the matcha drink because if we do not try it we will miss the chance to grab fantastic tastes offered by Brew and Blossom Café. Sofia did not regret it and started to follow its social media pages on Tiktok and Instagram to learn more of its products. Not only matcha, but other menu items like chocolate drinks, coffees and cookies are also new favourites to Sofia. If Sofia feels down and stressed, she can buy the flowers from the café. Sofia never saw a café that sells many products at the booth, including beautiful flowers.***
