On 11 August 2025, SIRIM hosted Machine Day at Kawasan Perindustrian Rasa, Hulu Selangor, carrying the theme “Machinery and Equipment Technology: From Industries to Communities.” The programme, officiated by Datuk Hanafi Sakri, Deputy Secretary General (Industry) of the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), offered more than just an exhibition, it created a space where ideas, technology, and people came together with a shared vision of progress.
The diversity of the attendees was striking. Leaders of industry stood alongside small business owners, government officers shared perspectives with engineers and researchers, while technologists, safety officers, academics, and students joined in the conversations. The mix gave the event a sense of inclusiveness, each of us had a role to play in shaping the future of machinery and equipment for both industry and community.
What made the day memorable was not just the technology on display, but the way it was brought to life. Live demonstrations revealed how advanced machinery and automation could drive efficiency and sustainability, while one-to-one sessions with SIRIM’s technical experts provided tailored insights. Many participants gained a clearer sense of how these innovations could enhance production, address business requirements, support research, and respond to broader community needs. Discussions on funding opportunities added further value, pointing the way forward for those ready to act on new ideas.
Perhaps the most meaningful takeaway, however, was the atmosphere of connection. Conversations were animated, questions flowed freely, and experiences were shared openly. The energy in the room reflected a collective belief that innovation belongs not just to large corporations, but to everyone willing to embrace it.
As the day drew to a close, the impression was lasting. Machine Day 2025 was not simply about machines, it was about people coming together to learn, to inspire, and to build a better future. For many, it served as a reminder that when guided by safety, quality, and innovation, technology has the power to transform industries and enrich communities in profound ways.
