GOMBAK, 10 May 2025: Mahallah Zubair Al-Awwam has once again cemented its dominance in the Inter-Mahallah Sports Carnival (ISC), securing its latest championship title in 2025, marking its third consecutive win after victories in 2017 and 2023. With an impressive history of triumphs spanning over six seasons, the Mahallah’s legacy of sports excellence continues to inspire generations of athletes.
Since their setback in 2015, Mahallah Zubair Al-Awwam made a remarkable comeback, reclaiming its championship status and proving that resilience, strategy, and team spirit are the foundation of its success. This year, however, presented new challenges as the team encountered sports outside their traditional areas of strength, pushing them to adapt and compete in unfamiliar territory.

Head of Sports & Recreation Bureau, MRC of Mahallah Zubair Al-Awwam, Muhammad Nuradam Taufiq Norazman, addressed the hurdles faced by the contingent this season, emphasizing that maintaining their championship streak was far from easy. “People might say we are in a comfortable zone, but actually, we are not. This season, we faced sports that we don’t usually dominate, with only athletics and handball remaining our strongholds. Other games lacked previous winning records, yet we kept our enthusiasm high to compete. Securing gold in takraw was an unexpected but proud achievement. Despite the lack of preparation time, we pushed forward and gave our best in every event,” he said.
Despite facing tight preparation schedules and intense competition, Mahallah Zubair Al-Awwam once again rose above the challenges, proving that hard work, adaptability, and team spirit remain the driving forces behind its victories. Beyond sports, Mahallah Zubair Al-Awwam’s vision extends to holistic student development, ensuring residents benefit from a diverse range of programs that enhance their personal and professional growth.

Mahallah Principal, Mohd. Norhafifi Zolkiaply, expressed his pride in the contingent, acknowledging the commitment of students, committees, and leadership who contributed to this year’s success. He remarked, “We are proud of the determination shown by our contingent and the incredible effort from our students and committees. Staying persistent in sports is important, but Mahallah Zubair isn’t only about winning championships. We focus on shaping a well-rounded residential experience for our students, covering spirituality, arts, culture, digital literacy, and unity. Our programmes, such as Bicara Fardu Ain, Ramadan Tent Project 1.0, Ziarah Mahabbah, street photography healing sessions, blood donation programme, and Rewang Raya recently help build character and foster engagement among residents.”
He further highlighted that Mahallah Zubair Al-Awwam has consistently promoted holistic student experiences through a range of past initiatives, including #ZubairFest2024, which focused on entrepreneurship, alongside interblock sports tournaments, iftar jamaie gatherings, international outbound trips to Turkey, and inspirational school tours. These activities have played a key role in shaping the Mahallah’s identity, providing students opportunities for leadership, skill-building, and global exposure.

Mahallah Zubair Al-Awwam’s flagship sports’ excellence residents development team name—Zubair Stallions: Home of Champions—continues to be a defining trademark that embodies the relentless determination and competitive spirit of its athletes. This strong foundation is further reinforced by the Mahallah Representative Committee (MRC), which operates under the guiding slogan, “In Trust We Serve.” The MRC remains deeply committed to supporting students, enhancing leadership potential, and ensuring continued excellence both on and off the field.
Proving that Mahallah Zubair Al-Awwam’s excellence extends beyond sports, the Mahallah also emerged as the overall champion of the Inter-Mahallah Cultural Week (IMCW) 2023, showcasing its strength in arts, culture, and performance. Additionally, Mahallah Zubair Al-Awwam secured a Top five ranking in Anugerah Bakat Majlis Perumahan Universiti Awam Malaysia (MAPUM) 2024 in the cultural programmes category, solidifying its reputation as an institution that nurtures both athletic and artistic excellence.
Speaking on behalf of Mahallah Zubair Al-Awwam’s winning contingent in ISC 2025 this year, the President, Ahmad Luqman Siddiqiey Harryzan proudly reaffirmed their championship legacy, celebrating their third consecutive victory at ISC. “Mahallah Zubair Al-Awwam has once again proven itself as the home of champions, successfully defending our winning legacy for the third season in a row. This achievement is a result of the hard work, dedication, and unwavering cooperation of every athlete in our contingent. I extend my heartfelt thanks to all team members for their perseverance and commitment. While we celebrate this victory today, we also look ahead—to improving, growing, and making sure the coming years bring even greater success,” said Luqman.

The strong support system within Mahallah Zubair Al-Awwam also plays a crucial role in its continued success. With dedicated fellows, an engaged student body, and an exceptional MRC team, the Mahallah continues to set the benchmark for leadership, unity, and excellence.
As Mahallah Zubair Al-Awwam celebrates another championship victory, it remains committed to fostering future leaders and ensuring its legacy continues beyond the sports arena. The team, its leadership, and its community stand ready to build on this success and inspire the next generation of IIUM champions.***
