Professor Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Koutoub confers degrees upon 698 graduands in 4th session of 40th IIUM Convocation

GOMBAK, 20 November 2024: The fourth session of the 40th IIUM Convocation Ceremony witnessed the conferrment upon 698 graduands from AbdulHamid AbuSulayman Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences (AHAS KIRKHS), Kulliyyah of Allied Health Science (KAHS) and Kulliyyah of Medicine (KOM) at IIUM Gombak, on 18 November.

The convocation ceremony began with a remarkable opening speech by the Rector of the IIUM, Honourable Professor Emeritus Datuk Dr. Osman Bakar. In his speech, graduands were celebrated for fulfilling the aspirations of their parents, guardians, and teachers, taking a significant step towards achieving their dreams and contributing to society. The Rector highlighted IIUM’s role as a comprehensive university offering diverse fields of knowledge, emphasising the importance of the three Kulliyyahs, which he regarded as the protectors of the health of body and soul.

This session of the convocation ceremony was officiated by a member of the IIUM Board of Governors and Secretary General International Islamic Fiqh Academy, His Excellency Professor Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Koutoub Moustapha Sano who gave a heartfelt speech. He urged graduands to use their achievements as a means to contribute to their communities, the ummah, and humanity.

In this session, a total of nine graduands received Kulliyah awards. The winners and their respective awards were as follows:

AbdulHamid AbuSulayman Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences (AHAS KIRKHS)

  • Siti Ameerah Binti Fauzi: Best Student (Overall) and University Level Award Winner for the Rector’s Award
  • Muhammad Aiman Bin Isa: Best Student (Academic)
  • Fatimah Azzahra Binti Zainul Alam: Best Student (Co-Curricular)

Kulliyyah of Allied Health Sciences (KAHS)

  • Amyni Natasha Binti Suhaimi: Best Student (Overall)
  • Marjan Binti Mohamad Hadi: Best Student (Academic)
  • Muhammad Hazim Bin Lokman: Best Student (Co-Curricular)

Kulliyyah of Medicine (KOM)

  • Nur Nabilah Binti Mohd Zamrisham: Best Student (Overall)
  • Amalia Izzati Binti Razman: Best Student (Academic)
  • Mohamad Mu’az Bin Mohamad: Best Student (Co-Curricular)

Fatimah Azzahra Binti Zainul Alam from AHAS KIRKHS delivered her valedictorian speech on behalf of the graduands, emphasising that true success lies in character, faith, and a commitment to improving ourselves and others. She expressed her deepest gratitude to her parents for their unwavering support and prayed for the guidance from Allah SWT as well as for graduands to make a positive impact wherever life takes them.

The convocation ceremony concluded with the proclamation of adjournment by His Excellency Emeritus Professor Dato’ Dr. Koutoub Moustapha Sano followed by the IIUM anthem.***
