GOMBAK, 21 December 2023: The Exhibition of Empowering Persons with Disabilities through Entrepreneurship was held by Integrated Marketing Communication students (IMC), Communication Students’ Association (COSA) and Support Association for Parents of Special Needs Children (SUPPORT) in collaboration with eight organizations related to persons with disabilities (PwDs). The exhibition took place on 21 December 2023, at the Human Sciences Square of the Human Sciences Building, IIUM Gombak starting from 8.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.

One of the booths invited to open at the exhibition was by Dyslexia Cafe that was established by a young talented chef, Amer Adham Kamarudin, 23 years old, in November 2022. Being a person with dyslexia, this did not stop him from succeeding just like any other typical individuals. The growing popularity of this cafe proved that Amer’s disability did not stop him from achieving his dreams.

The variety of services it offers includes: catering, makeup services, wedding planner and hall rentals making the cafe stand out of its uniqueness. This cafe offers assorted menus from traditional to western cuisine besides a wonderful line of pastries.

Furthermore, the cafe is not merely a profit-centered business but it also actively inspires the community to help others and contribute to society.

This cafe was built not only to give awareness to the community about dyslexia, but also opens a lot of opportunities to other people with disabilities. With regards to this, Amer has been actively collaborating with other disability organizations and employed his friend, Abdul Qhaliq Al Azfari Muhammad, who also has dyslexia as the coffee master and pastry chef of his eatery.
