GOMBAK, 23 Decemeber 2023: The event, œWanita Milenium: Adab dan Akhlak was exclusively held for female attendees last Friday (16 December), at the IIUM Cultural Center (ICC).
It was a forum organised as one of the programmes for the Global Arabic Islamic Anniversary Festival 2023 (GARIIF 23) that lasted from 11 – 18 December with the theme, ˜Upholding adab, strengthening knowledge, culture, and radiating virtues through the spirit of cooperation.
In her opening speech, the Chairman of GARIIF 23, Prof. Dr. Rahmah binti Ahmad Haji Osman said, œWe aim to celebrate the women in shaping society that upholds others, strengthens the culture of knowledge and regulates pure virtues.”
As the Arabic proverb by Hadifh Ibraheem goes, ˜The mother is a school. If you prepared and educated her well, you will have prepared an entire nation well.
The speakers and panelists’ insights and expertise were essential to guide the discussion as a means to advance collective wisdom and understanding on the empowerment of women, Islamic ethical behaviours, and manners.
The event included a qasidah by Firqah Al Batul Attohira. It garnered interest as the organisers also invited Ustazah Nur Alina Al Munawwar, former singer, Waheeda and local actress, Nur Fazura as the speakers with director Erma Fatima acting as the moderator.
Plus, IIUM alumna, Hazwani Helmi and former actress, Diana Amir played their roles as the masters of ceremony to ensure the smoothness of the programme.
The event ended with a lucky draw, in which the lucky winners got Fazuras hijab as prizes.
IIUM emphasised Islamic-teaching in every Kulliyyah, therefore, events like GARIIF 23 will expose their students and Malaysians in particular to the culture of Arabic Islamic civilisation.***
