Beyond the lectures and textbooks, university life unfolds as a dynamic tapestry of opportunities. From engaging in cutting-edge research to participating in vibrant cultural events, each day offers a chance to explore, learn, and grow.
A program called Memperkasa Komuniti Dengan Pendidikan Tinggi, organized by WiSE (Women in Sustainable Development) of the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), in collaboration with SMK Tun Perak, Rawang Selangor was held on 8 December 2023, which aimed to give school students some ideas about university life and the challenges and issues that students will face while studying at university.
Thirty-two IIUM Student volunteers with their lecturer, Dr. Amelia Yuliana Abd Wahab, leading the way to empower the youths in school. The program was officiated by Mr. Ismail Yatim, Principal of SMK Tun Perak, joined with the representatives of Persatuan Ibu Bapa dan Guru (PIBG).
The program included a special segment dedicated to sharing meaningful, fun, and realistic insights to university life. Students will discover exciting opportunities, make connections, and learn how to navigate the challenges that come with the new chapter at university.
The program was not just about giving motivation; it was a holistic approach to empowering students for a successful academic journey.
But it was not just about exams. The organisers understood the importance of balance, so they had incorporated engaging games and interactive activities into the program to reflect this.
Imagine interactive games that challenged the students’ minds, fostered teamwork, and injected an adrenaline rush of motivation. It was an immersive adventure designed to make learning enjoyable and unforgettable. With 230 school students participating, this was an opportunity to gain valuable insights, boost confidence, and connect with like-minded peers. It was embarking on a journey towards success with the youth! ***
