GOMBAK, 11 December 2023: In an effort to prepare its graduates for the professional world, Communication internship students conducted a workshop focused on œGrooming and Work Etiquette for Fresh Graduates on 8 December 2023, at IIUM Gombak. The aim of the workshop was to enhance the employability of final year Communication students by creating a good first impression that is long lasting.

It was conducted by distinguished speaker, Mrs. Nadiah Ibrahim, a certified professional in image etiquette at the ByFerial Image & Color Institute, based in Australia. She shared valuable insights on the importance of grooming and practising good work etiquette in the contemporary job market.

The workshop aimed to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical workplace requirements, by providing students with essential tools to navigate their future careers successfully.

œAs you are a part of the younger generation, please don’t give others a chance to criticise you. And to do that, you need to prove them wrong and take things seriously by taking care of your professional etiquette and appearance, said Mrs. Nadiah.

Mrs. Nadiah not only is an expert, but also offers corporate training and seminars on crucial aspects such as image, personal branding, grooming, and etiquette with some of the topics that she delivers being Color Analysis and Styling, Body Analysis, and Wardrobe Management. She also highlighted the significance of such workshops in shaping well-rounded professionals.

“In today’s competitive job market, academic qualifications alone are not sufficient. Employers are increasingly seeking candidates who not only possess technical skills but also exhibit a high level of professionalism and workplace etiquette. This workshop is part of our commitment to nurturing holistic graduates who are ready to excel in the global workforce,” she stated.

The workshop covered a range of topics, including adopting appropriate workplace attire, practising effective communication skills and building a positive professional image.

Attendees had the opportunity to engage in interactive sessions, group discussions, and practical exercises designed to reinforce the concepts introduced during the workshop.

The success of the “Grooming and Work Etiquette for Fresh Graduates” workshop reaffirms IIUM’s commitment in providing holistic education that goes beyond academic knowledge.

As the university continues to prioritize the overall development of its students, such initiatives contribute significantly to producing graduates who are not only academically proficient but also well-equipped to thrive in diverse professional environments.***
