GOMBAK, 21 April 2022: The AbdulHamid AbuSulayman Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences (AHAS KIRKHS) is committed to embark on activities that will empower student leaders and staff in improving the well-being of IIUM students.
Dean of AHAS KIRKHS, Prof. Dr. Shukran Abdul Rahman, said that the Kulliyyah is working closely with the mahallah principals and it is expected that it will be done through the application of social and human sciences as well as the Islamic principles.
He said this at the AHAS KIRKHS Signing Ceremony of Collective Statement of Commitment and Integration Iftar on Wednesday (20 April).
Organised by AHAS KIRKHS, the event had the dual objective of promoting integration amongst international students, and the signing ceremony of collective statement of commitment between Student Development and Community Engagement Office, International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilisation (ISTAC) and the Darul Hikmah Library.
The Dean added that the Kulliyyah is also committed to ensure that all students are equipped with knowledge and skills to improve the quality of life in their society.
Academic members will be allowed to do teaching, consultancy, research, innovation and publication with the International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilisation (ISTAC), the Dean said, adding that œit is a win-win arrangement.
The Kulliyyah has formed a team called Heritage and Manuscript Study Unit encompassing academic members from AHAS KIRKHS, Darul Hikmah Library and outside the kulliyyah, to unlock and preserve the manuscripts of our past scholars gathered by the Darul Hikmah Library, he stressed.
œWe want to look at how the principles designed by our past scholars would be able to address current social and spiritual issues, the Dean added, concluding the collaborations between all the three agencies.
Meanwhile, IIUM Rector, Prof. Emeritus Tan Sri Dzulkifli Abdul Razak, who was also present at the event, said that the Kulliyyah was finally able to gather a large population which was not achievable two years ago.
œThe integration of ours today is one that means a lot to us. We have to be one and go with one voice. We have better things to do than fight amongst each other, especially for a multiracial country like Malaysia. Lets work with one heart and regardless of the problems, we have to put our heads together, the Rector said.
In his inspiring speech, Tan Sri Dzulkifli encouraged the students to bring out the courage in them to speak up as long as their argument comes with evidence, reasons, and a sincere heart, to move forward faster as future leaders.
The event concluded with the Quranic recitation by Muhammad Izzat, Alsanousi Amhimmid and Maswoudi Ridwan from Quran and Sunnah studies department, as well as the breaking of the fast for which all attendees enjoyed having a meal together.
Held at the Banquet Hall, Muhammad Abdul-Rauf Building, the event was attended by 50 staff members and 50 students which included some 20 international students of various nationalities.
Present at the event were IIUM Deputy Rector (Student Affairs), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zulkifli Hassan, Dean of ISTAC, Prof. Dr. Abdelaziz Berghout, Librarian Head, heads of departments and lecturers. ***
