From flight MH370 to MU5735, those dreads we can’t imagine

GUANGZHOU (China), 21 March 2022: China Eastern Airlines flight MU5735 from Kunming to Guangzhou lost contact and crashed over Wuzhou, Guangxi Province at 2:38 p.m. today.

It is reported that there were 123 passengers and 9 crew members on board.

“I drove by the nearby highway and witnessed the process of the flight falling. I saw the flight fall vertically, and then the scene quickly began to smoke,” said witness Mr. Li.

The fire brigade and the experts have successively arrived at the scene to participate in the rescue and first aid work. Up to now, there are still no reports about the survival of the members on board.

Guangzhou Baiyun Airport set up a reception area for families of passengers of accident flights in terminal T1 at 5 p.m. The staff showed signs in the arrival hall to guide the families of passengers of flight MU5735 and checked the list on site.

Chinese netizens have expressed on social media their grief over the flight crash and their regret for the victims.

Meanwhile, a good few netizens mentioned Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, which was lost eight years ago.

“Whether it’s flight MH370 or MU5735, we can’t imagine what kind of dread those victims faced before the flight crash. They may not even have time to be afraid before an accident comes,” said netizens on Weibo.
