GOMBAK, 21 March 2022: After two years of waiting for graduation ceremony, finally it was time to commemorate the completion of their studies at the university as demonstrated by the proud faces of graduates, parents, and families.
Even though hidden by the masks, their eyes hold thousands of wonderful emotions. For the 15th session of 36th IIUM Convocation Ceremony, graduates from Kulliyyah of Economics and Management Sciences (KENMS) celebrated their journey of success.
One of the recipients of the Best Student Award for Kulliyyah Level, Muhammad Mahfuz Fakhri Bin Murhan Mukhoyiddin, shared something in common as he said that “the journey of education should be enjoyed as part of the life”.
Mahfuz received the Best Student Award (Academic) for his excellent academic performance.
Not only that he performed well in academic, but he was also active in society during his university years. Holding Chairperson of Bachelor of Accounting (BACC) Council for 2017/2018 session prove that the leadership position was not an obstacle to perform well in studies.
As a student, balanced life is needed to fulfil every responsibility – where determination lies, the path towards success is in the hands.
“I never knew that this award exists, until I was told that I received it. It really makes me proud when I saw the happy faces of my parents and family members. Behind the reward that I received today is support from my families and prayers from my parents”.
For him, their supports are the best gift from Allah that irreplaceable, without them he will not stand strong until today. For Mahfuz, their deeds only can be rewarded by Allah.
The newly-wed also expressed his gratitude towards his wife who also graduated from the same kulliyyah (KENMS). Both of them gave a big smile as they waited for convocation ceremony to be held. IIUM is the witness of their love story and the ups and downs in their journey of seeking knowledge.
Asked for study tips, Mahfuz, who is now the management associate at RHB Bank Berhad, said “whatever we do in our life, do our best”.
“There are not absolute study tips as people are different in their own way, but what I can say is focusing in class is the main key to achieve academic success.
Never neglect the works and assignments given by the lecturers. If you are not sure about certain topics immediately discussed it with your lecturers until you grasp it perfectly,” Mahfuz shared.
Besides focusing in classes, maintaining good relations is also important for Mahfuz. “Always respect your lecturers by doing your best in every task as they are teaching us knowledge,” he said.
At the end of the interview session, Mahfuz mentioned again about enjoying the journey as a student. “Being a student is not only about going to classes and focusing on academic, but the life of students should be coloured by creating lots of memories with various people of different background.
“Take the opportunity as IIUM students to mingle with lots of friends from different nationalities as it is a bridge to make us more open-minded,” he added.
Mahfuz wishes all graduates and students, especially those who are from Accounting Department, all the best in their future. He said that studying accounting is not easy, but the hardship will become a bittersweet memory that will be remembered eternally. ***
