GOMBAK, 3 March 2022: It is important for first year Communication students to take note on how their study plan works as it can help them to plan their schedules better, the Academic Advisor of IIUM Communication Department, Dr. Tengku Siti Aisha Tengku Azzman told newly intake students.
In a briefing session called Communication Academic Briefing (CAB) conducted jointly by Department of Communication and Communication Student Association (COSA) on Wednesday (2 March), Tengku Siti Aisha delivered useful information to first year Communication students.
Tengku Siti Aisha suggested for average communication students to take up to 18 credit hours per semester to ensure they are able to graduate on time while also reminding that the students follow the 201 study plan which is different from past semesters study plan.Â
Besides the updated study plan which discussed the minimum and maximum workload eligible for students to take, Tengku Siti Aisha also briefed on academic probation, course withdrawal, graduation requirement, options for electives, and types and requirement for taking study leaves.
Final reminders from Tengku Siti Aisha included the announcement on Murabbi-Murid Session which is a mentor-mentee system in Communication Department.
The students were reminded that they can consult their mentors pertaining to various matters such as academic, specialisation choices, career advice, resources availability in IIUM, and personal challenges related to studies.
Meanwhile, Dr. Nerawi Sedu, the lecturer from the department, briefed the students on several regulations pertaining to ethics which include a code of conduct that students should adhere to while attending lectures and sitting for physical examinations and their dress code while in campus.
The academic briefing which is compulsory for first year Communication students was held live from 11 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. via Zoom meeting.***
