GOMBAK, 28 November 2021: The IIUM Ibn Ummi Maktum Club (I-MaC) will be collaborating with Disability Services Unit IIUM (DSU), IIUM.fm and IIUMToday for IIUM Disability Grand Awareness Campaign (IDGAC) 2021 to be held from 2 until 11 December.

The campaign will be officiated by Senator Datuk Ras Adiba Radzi in a launching ceremony to be held at Multipurpose Hall, Wadi Budi IIUM.

It aims to encourage the IIUM community and society at large to eradicate stereotyping and stigmatisation of people with disabilities by promoting inclusiveness between both.

Another highlight of the event is “Raising a Miracle” talk by IIUM Special Parents Community, an exclusive session specially organised for the IIUM community to cultivate empathy within them and to reveal the truth on the reality faced by the special parents. The talk will be held via Google Meet.

With the collaboration of IIUM.fm, Dari Kaca Mata Kami podcast allows the IIUM community to understand the world from the disabled students’ perspectives and grasp awareness on the challenges that they need to encounter every day.

Teasers for this podcast will be posted on their social media while the main podcast will be made available on their YouTube channel.

There are also side competition events which are “Social Media Poster Trivia” in which facts about disability will be shared on their social media along with some quizzes as an attention grabber, and “Awareness Bunting Design”, aimed to attract students and encourage them to be more inclusive with people with impairments.***
