GOMBAK, 18 September 2021: The Rector of IIUM, Prof. Emeritus Tan Sri Dato Dzulkifli Abdul Razak called for the importance of taking care of mental health in a webinar œBreaking the Silence: Role of Mental Health Advocacy and Communications.
He also suggested some ways to make us understand ourselves by communicating to ourselves such as asking about the things that we are up to for today.
He recommended communicating with ourselves for at least five to ten minutes and added that we must look at ourselves as another person as if we want to understand the person.
œThe moment I can understand myself, then I can understand you better, he said.
He said this during a conversation with Senior Development Economist of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei Darussalam, Dr. Haniza Khalid in the webinar held on Wednesday (15 September).
The webinar was organised by UNDP with IIUM and the Malaysian Psychological Association as co-organisers and was attended by around 300 people through Zoom platform.
The discussion focused on mental health of people during lockdown situation due to COVID-19, and the recommendations that most people can do that emphasise themselves as individuals. ***
