GOMBAK, 29 July 2021: IIUM is seen as a university of quality, integrity and a university that is concerned not only about Islam but also the surrounding and environment, the Rector, Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Dato Dzulkifli Abdul Razak said recently.
Addressing the Takrim 2021 on Tuesday (27 July), the Rector highlighted three important things that we as an IIUM community should understand so that this would not only benefit the IIUM community but the whole world.
He said, firstly, we should acknowledge all the things have been done together in making this university a better place, being recognised and visible internationally.
Secondly, he said, the university has created a number of platforms to showcase and perform internationally and globally.
Thirdly, he drew attention to the university being acknowledged internationally and globally through sincere efforts.
According to the Rector, it is important for the university to be recognised for all the achievements as a group of community, students, staffs, and the society around us.
The institution, he said, needs to specify the final destination to guide everyone to arrive at the right place fast and with impactful meanings. “We also need to execute our responsibility together solely for one purpose – for Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala (SWT).”
He further said that it is important for IIUM to be seen as a university of quality, integrity, and which does not only revolve around Islamic matters, but also the surrounding and environment. “This would go to show that the university holds on to the initial purpose it was set up which is for Rahmatan Lil Alamin.”
Despite facing possible challenges in the future, the Rector assured that the university can contribute to the whole world because he believes that “we have created something that can be learned by the world”.
Meanwhile, IIUM President, Datuk Dr. Mohd Daud Bakar said, œEvery little thing counts. And sometimes all those little things that matter the most.
He emphasised that IIUM should keep the momentum of facing the competition to be the best among others with grace and being humble at all levels which are aligned with our motto ˜Leading the Way.
The President also expressed the hope that IIUM would produce more Insan Sejahtera through education and the need to advance by being the university that people and all stakeholders refer to, and would like to be accounted with in all aspects.
“Our tomorrows performance needs to be better than our todays performance,” he said as “it is a good habit to always break our own records.’
By adding pressure to our actions, we will shine bright like a diamond as with pressure that golds turn into precious diamonds, the President said.
Earlier, the Chairman of IIUM Takrim 2021, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Faris Ismail in his speech said, œIIUM emphasises on making a better society and community as part of our humanising of education as articulated in our SEJAHTERA Academic Framework.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this was the first time the IIUM Takrim Day was held online. The event was held to honour those who have contributed towards the achievement and success of the IIUM for the past one year.
