GOMBAK, 25 May 2021: A good facilitator needs to have qualities that can be regarded as a role model, as such it is crucial for the facilitator to establish oneself to the audience, an advanced training programme was told recently.
Amirul Aiman, who is a facilitator himself and currently studying in IIUM, said that the first impression is crucial for a facilitator when he or she speaks to the audience.
“To become a successful facilitator, one needs to always be positive so that he or she can lead by example. It is therefore important for a facilitator to know which approach is the best to conduct a programme, Amirul Aiman stressed.
An advanced facilitating training was held last Saturday (22 May) to expose IIUM students on the tips and tricks of being a successful facilitator.
The two-hour training programme, organised by Inspire Club IIUM and CENSERVE IIUM, was moderated by Ammar Syahmi who is a member of Inspire Club.
The training stressed the importance of an efficient module to ensure that facilitators know exactly what they want to achieve, apart from making sure that they know precisely what they are supposed to do.
In this context, the training highlighted that a module acts as a guideline for facilitators to think of the best way to conduct a certain programme.
A simulation of a module is important to ensure that it would work, Amirul Aiman told the audience.
œA simulation is crucial as it helps to know whether the module would work and identify what can be improved before conducting the programme, he said.
The training also emphasised that modules which incorporate elements of Tadabbur Al-Quran and Islamic Aqidah would always bring value to the audience.
œThere are benefits when we emphasise Al-Quran and Aqidah in our modules, Amirul said.
Amirul Aiman reminded the participants “to never leave our daily prayers and to pray for the people in Palestine who are in need of our help.”
The programme which was streamed online on Chegu TV YouTube channel began at 8.30 p.m. and ended at 10.30 p.m. It attracted more than 700 people. ***
