COVID-19 Update: Malaysia floods with 1,741 cases, 7 deaths

GOMBAK, 4 January 2020: Another spike in COVID-19 cases has Malaysia reaching 1,741 cases today, adding up to the total of 120,818 overall cases.

Health Director-General, Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said that seven new fatalities are also recorded bringing the nation’s death toll to 501.

He added that among the five new clusters discovered, three were linked to workplaces.

Selangor leads with 687 cases, 109 from the newly found clusters Jalan Duyong and Pasar Jalan Sentosa.

Among the active cases, 122 are in intensive care with 53 on life support.

On the bright side, 1,010 patients are discharged today which adds to the 81.3 per cent recovery rate in Malaysia.

Meanwhile, Senior Minister (Security Cluster), Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced that COVID-19 SOP offenders are increasing day by day.

Yesterday, the MCO Task Force conducted 41,118 inspections nationwide for SOP compliance and compounded 463 of them, while two were remanded and one released on bail.***
