COVID-19 Update: 1,704 cases today, 11 deaths

GOMBAK, 3 January 2021- Malaysia recorded 1,704 new positive cases of COVID-19 today with 1,699 local cases and five imported cases.

Currently, the total number of active cases stood at 21,365, according to the Ministry of Health.

Meanwhile, a total of 2,726 recovered cases were recorded making a cumulative recovery cases at 97,218.

Selangor leads with 673 cases followed by Sabah with 509 cases and Johor with 179 cases as noon today.

A total of 74 cases reported are from prison cluster and, immigration detention centre and prison which involved Penjara Jalan Harapan cluster with 56 cases, Penjara Seberang Perai cluster with 7 cases, Tembik Choh cluster with 5 cases, Tembok Gajah cluster with 3 cases and Kolam Air cluster with one case.

From the total number of cases, 124 patients warded in the incentive care Unit (ICU) are under respiratory assistance.

Another 11 new deaths were recorded today contributing to the total number of deaths to 494.

As usual, the public are reminded to abide by the standard operating procedures (SOP) and stay away from 3Cs (Crowded Places, Confined Places, Close Conversation) and practice 3Ws (Wash, Wear, Warn) in order to break the chain of infection.***
