GOMBAK, 5 December 2020: Malaysia today recorded a total of 2,234 new COVID-19 cases including five imported cases as of noon bringing the current number of active cases to 11,867 and a total confirmed cases to 78,499.
Health Director-General, Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah reported that Selangor recorded the highest number of cases which is 1,428 cases followed by Sabah with 274 cases and Kuala Lumpur with 136 cases respectively.
There are also three new deaths reported making the cumulative COVID-19 death toll for the country to 396 so far.
œCases in Selangor are expected to remain high following the expansion of foreign workers’ screening programme by SOCSO (Social Security Organisation), as well as proactive measures by employers in the Klang Valley, said Dr. Noor Hisham.
Additionally, Dr. Noor Hisham disclosed a total 1,112 positive cases of COVID-19 have recovered and discharged today, adding to the total number of discharged and recovered cases to 66,236.
In a statement today, Dr. Noor Hisham also said there are 124 patients currently under intensive care unit (ICU), with 60 requiring ventilator support. ***
