Knowing your limit the key to success

GOMBAK, 28 November 2019: Donning the beautiful blue robe with the biggest smile carved onto her face, Udaimatununnoor Binti Azmy was among the 454 graduates from the Kulliyyah of Engineering (Materials) who received the Best Student award for her outstanding achievements in her co-curricular.

‘If Allah brings you to it, He will bring you through it’ was her lifetime quote to juggle between her studies and co-curricular activities.

Earning a CGPA of 3.65 and acquiring Dean’s List for 6 semesters throughout her undergraduate, she said, “Everything you do, you must know your limit because the moment you get yourself into a university, you must always prioritise your studies first.”

Udaimatununnoor did not just succeed in her academics, but interestingly, she was also active in becoming one of the committee members for IIUM Roboteam 2017/2018, financial controller for Dhana Night and she also volunteered in outreach programme to Kampung Orang Asli Gombak.

Telling herself to get back up after a major fall down, she noted, “I was so tired and my classes were packed from 8 a.m till 5 p.m. Hence, I did not get the best result but I told myself that I need to change and so I did.”

Pushing the stereotype that co-curricular activities are not as important as academic achievements, Udaimatununnoor made her final note by assuring that future employees would look at some of the activities and “that is one of the ways to secure a job in a company.”

The award was presented by His Excellency Mr. Gamal Abdelrehim Mohamed Metwally, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt. The event took place at IIUM Cultural Centre (ICC), Gombak on 26 November. ***
