GOMBAK, 25 November 2019: “I always asked my mother to do hajat prayer and recite the verse of Yassin every time I want to sit for the final exam,” Nur Syahirunnisa Hassan said in her valedictorian speech at the third session of the IIUM 35th Convocation Ceremony.
This 23 years old student from Perlis has been crowned the best student in academic achievement for Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences having secured Dean Lists award in all semesters and IIUM Academic Excellence in six semesters.
She said among the factors that contributed to her achievement today was all the hard work and help from her parents and friends.
This psychology student also stated that among the tips to succeed with flying colours in academic is striking a balance between academic and the relationship with the creator.
“My tips to score are always reading the Quran and trying to memorise the terms by understanding what the lesson is all about. For psychology student, I advise practising all the past year questions.”
She also put the hope to finish her memorising the Quran and to make her parents proud.
“I am so happy today. Before this, I did not make my parent’s proud because I didn’t finish yet my memorisation of Quran, but today I achieved something that can make them happy. My hope after this is to be able to finish my memorisation of all verses in the Quran.
She also advised all future graduates to be hardworking and never give up in finding a suitable career for their future.
Meanwhile, commenting on Nisa’s achievement, her mother, Madam Suria Binti Abu Salim said she never forced her children but tried to understand them.
“My tips to all parents, do not give up on your children, try to understand their needs and prioritise religious teaching.” ***
