EMIRES strengthens IIUM’s relations with refugee kids

GOMBAK, 23 November 2019: UNESCO IIUM Club recently launched the last meeting of EMIRES this semester to celebrate and strengthen relations between refugee kids and IIUM students.

The celebration of Grand EMIRES was held on Friday (22 November) at a seminar room in Economic Building, (KENMS) from 8.00 a.m to 11.30 a.m.

The committees from UNESCO IIUM Club produced activities for 26 students from EFA (Educational for all schools) to enjoy. They created the idea of playing games together with the kids for recreation and ended the meeting expressing feelings towards each other.

EMIRES is a local programme organised by UNESCO IIUM Club that focused on supporting education for refugee kids around Gombak.

Programme coordinator, Ma Li Ke, stated that EFA school is a school that supports refugee kids from many countries with sufficient capacity to study to help them have better education and to improve knowledge for their future.

Ma Li Ke also said that the main objective of this programme is to provide educational opportunities for refugee students and to provide them with a chance to interact with university students. Kids’ refugees will be formed during two to three meetings in every semester where the previous meeting was on 15 November.

“I am very happy when seeing the kids smile, they deserve a better future,” Muhammad Najmi bin Abdul Rashid, the programme manager, expressed his feelings at the end of the meeting. ***
